The ISS has been under construction since 1998. The image below is the status quo as of 2005; today the dimensions of the space station have grown from 27 m x 52 m x 73 m (in the image) to 30 m x 100 m x 110 m (June 2012). Back in 2005 the ISS was operated by two team members, now the crew consists of 6 persons. You can see solar arrays, research modules and service modules. You really have to see the full resolution image to get a good impression of what's orbiting the earth about 350 km above your heads.
