Cheops

Last but not least, a smaller telescope; but the first among the ones to be introduced that we should see in action. Cheops, short for CHaracterising ExOPlanets Satellite is a space-based telescope that has launched in December 2019. Its main task will be to analyse the spectral signatures of exoplanets. This cooperation of ESA and Switzerland is dedicated to scanning known planets and analysing their atmospheres and measure the radius and density of the planets. This is another step towards knowing how common life in the universe may be.
